Treating trauma relationship-based psychotherapy with children, adolescents, and young adults
We provide psychotherapeutic and pharmacological treatments to children and adolescents with anxiety and depression. Some of the most common anxiety disorders include separation anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, phobias, and social anxiety disorder.
The most common depressive disorders include dysthymia and major depressive disorder. In addition, we often treat children and adolescents with bipolar disorder and psychosis.
Psychotherapeutic interventions include, but are not limited to, cognitive behavioral therapy CBT and interpersonal psychotherapy for adolescents IPT-A. In addition, we have specialized groups for social-skills training and family therapy. Psychopharmacological, parent training, and psychotherapeutic treatments are available for children with ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder, and conduct disorder. Both individual and group therapy modalities are utilized to help parents and children.

Treatment modalities include medication management and comprehensive behavioral interventions for tics CBIT. In light of the notable comorbid presentation of tic disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorder OCD , our clinicians also provide cognitive behavioral therapy with emphasis on exposure and response prevention to help children and youth with OCD.
Medication-management services are readily available as well and are used in conjunction with therapy if indicated.
Outpatient Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CHONY-6)
In this specialty clinic, clinicians provide child-parent psychotherapy CPP a dyadic, relationship-based treatment for parents and their young children. Standard treatment involves individual psychotherapy, adolescent DBT skills group, family therapy, parent management, medication management as indicated, and telephone coaching. Patients who require short-term crisis intervention or therapy are treated in this service using short-term therapy interventions. Young children who have been traumatized are frequently too anxious or fearful to engage in the healthy exploration that leads to mastery and satisfaction.
